Horrible Experience

This place is the absolute worst - if you're in the market to lease a property and it's being managed by Greystar run far away as fast as you can. I moved out of my apartment on January 15, 2022 and received an email from accounts receivable stating that I owe them $99.96 in excess of the security deposit they found fraudulent ways to keep.

Sure, you might say that isn't much money, and you'd be right. I'm not mad about the money, However, I am mad about how my living experience was when they took over the apartment complex I was living in that was previously managed by a wonderful property management company.

The community was marketed as a gated community, which it would have been if the gates actually functioned. Gates were chronically broken or propped open. The key fob access to the building frequently didn't work resulting in the power being cut to the door and it would open for anyone that tried to open it, thus creating a safety issue for the tenants.

Parking which was supposed to be for tenants only was chronically overflowing with vehicles of those who did not live within the apartment complex and parking was not enforced properly. They hired a night shift security person who was often found sleeping at the top of the hill outside my apartment in their car with their patrol golf cart parked nearby.

The amenities were nothing short of a joke. When I first moved in things were great - the pool was taken care of, fitness center was clean, dog parks were well maintained but when Greystar took over, that ended quickly. They were very quick to start construction on new things like an outdoor grill area with a patio/fire pit but started to neglect the pre-existing amenities.

I had a guest with me at the pool and there was an outbuilding with a fooseball table, tv and two restrooms. The restrooms were in complete disarray and no signage warning people of the mess they'd find when they opened the door. In one bathroom, a toilet had been removed and was sitting on the floor away from the actual spot it belonged. Again, no signage stating the restroom was under construction.

People were using the toilet despite the fact that it wasn't hooked up - talk about gross!

They did not care who they rented to. I ended up with neighbors who were conducting drug deals, had aggressive dogs and individuals who yelled all hours of the night. The police frequented my building as a result and the apartment complex did nothing despite countless police reports being filed. The aggressive dog even tried to go after my bulldog one day knocking me and my bulldog down the stairs.

Previously mentioned bulldog was injured by this apartment complex/property management company resulting in thousands of dollars in medical bills.

They sprayed some type of chemical on the grass that caused an allergic reaction that resulted in my bulldogs face swelling up and permanent damage being done to his eyes. When I called to inquire what chemical was sprayed in an attempt to aide the vet in treating him, I was hung up on. This has resulted in one eye surgery that cost $3,500, countless vet visits with a specialist to monitor his condition, hundreds spent in ongoing medications he has to take (3 different eye meds that need to be administered 3x per day) and another $3,000 surgery is on deck if/when the vet states he needs it. The $99.96 might not be much to you, but the vet bills speak for themselves and are causing him lifelong pain and suffering because they decided to spray chemicals without A.

telling tenants B. ensuring they were pet safe when they were being sprayed on areas that pets frequent. Had they provided a notice, I would've made an attempt to take him somewhere else to go potty and avoided this whole thing.

Maintenance would document that they were unable to enter an apartment to perform maintenance, even though they didn't even try. I installed a ring doorbell at one point and caught a maintenance man on camera standing outside my door with a ladder ready to fix something I requested be looked at.

He waited there for five minutes, never knocked, and then walked away while shrugging his shoulders as if to say, 'well, I tried'. Important to note, he never rang the doorbell either. I only saw the video after I noticed the note stating he attempted to gain entry to the apartment and was unsuccessful.

The office staff is lazy and rude. They were completely unhelpful anytime there was an issue or question and wouldn't even leave their office to do a final walkthrough with me that I requested, stating that they don't do them due to COVID.

When I received the email from accounts receivable, I called the woman to discuss.

She was immediately rude when I asked her why it took over 2 months to reach out to me with an itemized bill when Texas law states that there is a 30 day post move out window.

I technically had no obligation to pay the additional money they billed me, as it was past the 30 day window, but I have zero desire for this company to tank my credit which they are known for doing nor do I have a desire to fight with this company that conducts such disgusting business- do your research!

Do not rent from this company if you want to have a positive living experience.

Greystar - do better! This is absolutely disgusting.

Bad company to work for or rent from

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Greystar is the worst company to work for. i worked for them for almost two years before i was fired for expressing my concerns about a fellow employee who was under investigation for thefts on the property i worked for..

i was also told i was going to get said cortication's that were needed to do my job right, that never came. so they had me illegally working on AC. i was told not to contact HR ,that the upper management would take care of it. this went on months until they fired me.

i had to do more work because the said employee was not allowed in units because the tenets did not want him in there apartment due to him being under investigation. He was also tagging the property in gang sings, this is the assistant maintenance supervisor.

no one for the property management did anything about it at all, like i said i expressed my concerns and was fired for it. so if you are reading this DO NOT WORK OR LIVE FOR A GREYSTAR PROPERITY.

30 day vacancy from Overture for Mental Health Disability

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
During my 4 years residency I was discriminated against at Overture Crabtree because I had mental health disabilities which manifested itself in outbursts which was not understood by prior management. I notified Landlord Tenant Commission from the start of my residency because of being hassled re: my service dog and was verbally abused, the physically abused. I was eventually legally given a 30 day vacancy.

SUN RIVER VILLAGE, ST. PETERS MO - OVERCHARGES/FEES/FALSE ADVERTISING

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I rented via web moving from CA to MO. Online photos of units and community look amazing. Not so - the apartment was a dump for over $1500 in a St. Louis suburb. After turning in keys and notifying office of my departure, no final statement received. Now, Sun River has sent this to a collections agency. Information on statement is incorrect, with incorrect move out date, incorrect date of notice, a $100 late fee and fee of $15 Rent Protect Lease Violation Fee (no idea what this is for).

Never rent here!!

Original review Apr 13, 2022
The office is full of liars. The staff is incredibly lazy & rude. They refuse to complete necessary repairs to my apartment, although they raised my rent $200 since taking over my complex. They also continue to violate ADA federal regulations, despite complaints made directly to the office regarding my disability. I have contacted city officials, as no response or resolution has been made.

Unbelievable experience

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Needed temporary housing for 3 months while looking around in a new area for a permanent option, so signed a lease for that length of time...gave 30 day written notice and they suddenly say they need 90 day notice on a 3 month lease...never heard of such a clause...so then they bill me for $3000 and keep my deposit...mind blown..

Need for closure

I do not know why they have not deposited the check for rent. Could they be actually feeling sympathy for us on the loss of our son in December? We were told we would have to pay January February and March rent? We need closure. If they are not going to cash it we need to know so we can finish the probate.

Poor Company Management

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I know people that have worked for this company over the years. There is always talk of the people that manage the properties being very picky about the way the apartments look to the point of waiting until they get the one model apartment to the persons specific liking.

Theres no room for employee suggestion because they will talk over and belittle you to get you to shut up. They complain about the regions prices for maintenance and remodel and dont approve vendors you provide, yet wonder why you cant get the apartments lease ready in one week. Have suggested personal vendors that charge a lower price to only be informed that they found a vendor that will do it cheaper( and probably *** than trusted ones in the area with long lists of proper installations. The places they buy are only ghetto complexes with the greystar logo attached.

Theyve increased the rent almost 300 dollars for granite counter tops and white paint. Absolutely appalling that they can charge this much only to make more money. Higher ups complain about expenses but have no problem buying food for resident events that no one goes to. They show time and time again that they do not care about getting anything ready before move in.

Cleaning is horrible, paining is horrible and sloppy, bad craftsmanship from underpaid workers and so on. Greystar will never read these reviews just like how they never provide support to their employees at the office level or their residents at these properties. They cut off section 8 for people that have lived there for years on end with the only explanation being we dont support that here.

Horrible. Would never recommend anyone live or work with anything Greystar related.

Management Has No Concern About The Residents

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I do not live in the Liberty Pointe Apartments in Bethel Park but my elderly aunt has lived there for approx. 7 years.

Greystar is the third company to own this property since she has lived there. They recently raised her rent $65/month. We both felt that was an unreasonable increase especially for an elderly person on a fixed income. We met with the property manager who was not willing to do anything at all even though I suggested splitting this increase over a two year period.

I asked for her supervisors email info and sent an email to her. She never had the courtesy to respond to my email. I went further up the ladder only to have the same response, NO RESPONSE. I finally sent a nasty email and someone did respond only to say that's the market rate.

They have truly demonstrated that they have a lack of concern for their residents and their only objective is to make money no matter how they do it or who they hurt along the way. My advice is to NEVER move into a property owned by Greystar, you will live to regret it!

Poor management and business tactics

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

1. Looked at an apartment, put money down on certain apartment, then was lied to by calling me and saying other apartment was rented to another after I already did online deposit.

2.

Lied to about new apartment would be the same and it was far from it.

3. Had to argue with staff to be reimbursed for move from horrible apartment to current apartment which took them 3 months to find.

4.

This years snow removal was extremely poor as I had slipped and fallen 5 times dut to no salt or lack of shoveling sidewalks.

5. Keeping overpayments of rent as security deposits instead of refunding when asked from elderly/veteran.

I call this morning and spoke to the woman in the office. I told her that my heater was not working and in other words she told me oh well.

She didn't come out and say it but she may as well have. She told me that she would put in a service request and that it might get seen by next week. I told her that it was an emergency because I'm freezing my damn *** off and she seems to not care no I told her that she might not be seeing another day in this office I don't know that but I hope she doesn't come back to work here she doesn't know what she's doing or what she's talking about.

She said that it is not an emergency I hope that someday she gets in the same situation where it's cold as *** and she has no heat let's see how her stupid *** likes it. I hope she gets fired
